Radiesse  Biostimulator

Why just fill, when you can contour & biostimulate!

Signs of skin ageing have met their match! Radiesse, is a special type of dermal filler, which treats wrinkles and folds in the skin by filling lost volume as well as boosting the skin’s natural collagen production.

Hyperdilute Radiesse is simply Radiesse that’s been thinned out with a mixture of saline & lidocaine to boost collagen stimulation.

How does Radiesse and hyperdilute Radiesse treat signs of ageing?

Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres, which are naturally found in the human body, suspended in a water-based gel.

Though there is an instant plumping effect attributed to the gel substance, it doesn’t necessarily ‘fill’ the area of lost volume like typical hyaluronic acid fillers do, instead the calcium hydroxyapatite molecules stimulate you body to produce new collagen, which results in a firmer, more youthful appearance for a longer period of time as compared to other fillers.

Since hyperdilute Radiesse is a more thinned out version of Radiesse, it can be administered over a broad area such as whole face, neck, hands or other body areas.

It is considered a long-lasting, but non-permanent filler and is highly biocompatible with human tissue.

Where can Radiesse be used?

Radiesse is an excellent product for the jawline, cheeks, below the mouth and can be used in a diluted form in the neck, chest and backs of the hands.

Dilute and hyperdilute Radiesse can be used to improve skin quality, elasticity, and firmness in areas like the face, neck, chest, hands, buttocks upper arms, abdomen, knees.

Anywhere there is thin, crepey or sagging skin. Generally diluted Radiesse gives better results for these areas with thin skin than does normal HA filler.

What is the difference between the collagen biostimulators (such as Radiesse, Ellanse & Sculptra) and normal hyaluronic acid dermal fillers?

Radiesse is a semi-permanent types of dermal filler which acts to both volumise and stimulate process new collagen production.

The main difference between this treatment and normal fillers is that it encourages your skin to produce more collagen so that when the product reduces down over time, your collagen is replacing that volume loss naturally.

It is different from other fillers, as they give the desired beautiful aesthetic result that lasts longer than conventional dermal fillers, they also produce less filling effect than hyaluronic acid dermal filler as the main effect is to firm and thicken the skin.

Ellanse and Radiesse are different from hyaluronic acid dermal filler, because they are  made from microspheres which dissolve in a unique way.

These biostimulators provide immediate correction that is gradually followed by new tissue formation through new collagen and new elastin production.

What are the benefits of Radiesse?

Radiesse offers:

  • Immediate results with a smoothing and lifting effect
  • Natural-looking results due to the stimulation of collagen production
  • Long-lasting effects, often lasting a year or more in many patients

Who should consider treatment with Radiesse or Hyperdilute Radiesse?

Radiesse and hyperdilute Radiesse are for people 20 years of age and older who are in good health and are concerned with loss of volume and wrinkles. The majority of patients who get these treatments are between the ages of 35 adn 60. During your aesthetics consultation I will explain Radiesse neat, Radiesse Hyperdilute, dermal fillers and skin boosters in details and answer any questions you may have.

What should I expect during and after my treatment with Radiesse and Hyperdilute Radiesse?

Radiesse and hyperdilute Radiesse are administered through a series of injections plus cannula, depending on the size of the area you want treated.

Dr Hughes will determine the right dosage during your consultation.

After properly sterilising and numbing the area for your comfort, Dr Hughes will strategically inject the filler.

There is generally no downtime after injections, but I recommend no strenuous activity for a couple of days. You may experience some short-lasting skin redness lasting about half an hour, some swelling for 2 to 3 days and as with any other procedure with needles you could experience some bruising.

How long has Radiesse been around and is there much clinical evidence for how it behaves?

There are over 20 years of clinical experience with Radiesse and over 220 peer reviewed scientific publications. Radiesse is available in 85 countries in the world and over 15 million syringes have been sold since it was first brought to market, therefore it is a well understood product.

How soon will I see results?

With Radiesse injections you’ll immediately see more fullness and smoothing of wrinkles and folds, with continued improvements over the coming weeks as your natural collagen and elastin production ramps up.

With hyperdilute Radiesse, you’ll start to notice those lines and wrinkles improve in about 4 weeks with full results achieved in about 3 months. You may at this stage, especially if over 40 years and or you have significant skin laxity have another Radiesse Hyperdilute treatment to build upon your results.

How many Radiesse treatments will I need?

For patients younger than 40 years of age usually only one treatment is needed. If you are older than 40 years old then two treatments are recommened three months apart. Peak collagen production will be at 9 months and then you may repeat your treatment again if you desire in another 18 months.

What are possible Radiesse side effects?

In addition to mild swelling, the most common side effects seen in clinical trials have included the following:

  • Redness
  • Pain and stinging sensations around the injection area
  • Bleeding at the injection spot
  • Numbness or itching
  • Nodules or bumps/lumps

These side effects will usually go away within a matter of hours or days. But if they last for longer, then we advise you to contact us.

It’s also important to note that you shouldn’t have the treatment if you have a history of allergic reactions, auto-immune conditions, skin inflammation, are receiving steroid treatment or if you’re pregnant

What aftercare is recommended after a collagen biostimulator treatment?

You’ll be able to resume most of your normal activities right after your appointment. Just avoid strenuous exercise, pressure to the treated area, and direct sunlight for 2 to 4 days after your procedure.

You may have some swelling, redness, and bruising at the injection site for a few days. An ice pack can help reduce swelling and redness, and most of the swelling should resolve within a week.

  • Wait until any injection-related symptoms are gone to see the final result.
  • Avoid applying makeup to the treated area for the next 24 hours after treatment.
  • Avoid vigorous exercise, hot bath, sun and heat exposure for 3 days.

What happens to Radiesse that has been injected over time?

The calcium hydroxyapatite crystals are gradually broken down into calcium and phosphate ions and eliminated through the body’s normal excretory processes. All of the components in Radiesse are therefore fully metabolised over time.
