Hair-loss is an ordeal which many of us will ultimately experience and is one that can lead to a loss of confidence and self-esteem.
At the clinic we use non-invasive approaches to stimulate hair growth such as Platelet Rich Plasma, Platelet Rich Fibrin, Mesotherapy, Growth Factors and Exosomes.
Which Hair Restoration treatment to choose?
Platelet rich fibrin treatment is a non-surgical approach to hair loss treatment that uses the patient’s own natural healing resources from their blood to stimulate growth and a health of the scalp, hair and follicles. Other hair loss treatments are using ingredients made in a laboratory such as growth factors, exosomes, vitamins, amino acids and botanicals known to promote and support hair growth.
When should I start treatment?
The earlier treatment starts, the better the outcome. Where hair loss is in the initial stages, we can look at retaining more of the existing hair as well as encouraging regrowth in the bald or thin patches.
What’s the recovery time like?
Non-surgical treatments tend to have very short recovery times, especially when compared to the commitment of surgery. Your scalp may feel a little bit tender to the touch or when brushing your hair the next day, but otherwise you will be able to go about your day as normal and not even be aware that you had the treatment the day before.
What does the treatment involve?
If you are getting platelet rich fibrin treatment some blood will be taken from a vein in your arm and spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets and growth factors from the rest of your blood and this solution is injected into your scalp using fine mesotherapy needles and your scalp is also microneedled using a microneedling pen device.
If you are opting for growth factors, exosomes or mesotherapy then these solutions will be administered into the scalp using both mesotherapy and microneedling techniques.
Do you offer prescription treatments for male hair loss?
For male hair loss a combination regimen of minoxidil and finasteride, a 5 alpha reductase inhibitor are helpful in preventing and slowing down androgenetic hair loss.
The benefits and possible side effects, dosage frequency and duration etc. can be discussed with you during your hair restoration procedure and if deemed a suitable treatment option for you Dr. Hughes may prescribe you finasteride and advise you on the minoxidil and finasteride treatment combination.
Do you offer home care & supplements?
Alongside doctor-led treatments at our clinic, we also offer the Anteage home care kit, which has a hair serum, microstamp device and prescriptive topical preparations. The appropriate home care products will be selected at your consultation, according to your individual condition.
In addition to the topical products given for homecare use, we also recommend supplements which can be taken orally, or injected for better absorption. Supplements containing biotin, selenium, zinc, b vitamins and special shampoos can be recommended. The use of supplements can be beneficial in all cases of hair loss, as good nutrition will result in the growth of healthy, strong hair.
